As stated previously, “Mold is a symptom of a moisture problem”. Mold needs a balance of three parts to flourish in your home; 1. High enough moisture levels for long enough period of time. 2. The right temperature. 60-100 degrees is ideal. 3. A food source, processed manmade materials such as paneling, OSB board, paper on drywall, etc are ideal. While mold may begin to grow due to an isolated short term event such as a roof leak or flooded basement, if the moisture levels are not maintained long enough, the mold will go dormant. Therefore with all mold investigations the number one priority is to determine and cure the moisture source! If you skip this and only clean or remove the mold, the problem will come back.
